On December 8th, 2024, Mbai Bassa Community collaborated with the African Advocacy Network (AAN), Eglise Franco Africaine De La Nouvelle Alliance (EFANA), and Ivoire Alliance (IA) to host a significant community outreach and education session regarding immigration laws in the United States.

Two immigration specialists from AAN presented various aspects of immigration law, including asylum, adjustment of status, family-based petitions, student visas, U-Visas, and citizenship.
They also provided general guidance on addressing the forthcoming changes in immigration policies announced by the new Trump Administration, effective January 20th, 2025. Their primary message emphasized that there was no cause for alarm and that it is crucial to understand one’s legal options and to rely on trustworthy sources and professionals.
The specialists addressed general questions from the community covering different facets of immigration law. Individuals seeking assistance for their specific cases were advised to contact AAN at 415-503-1032 or consult an immigration lawyer.
The event concluded with a light dinner provided by AAN and EFANA. Due to the high level of community interest, the organizers pledged to continue working together and to make these sessions recurring events scheduled at least twice a year.
Mbai Bassa Community expresses its deep gratitude to its partners and to community members who participated in this event. Part of our mission is to facilitate the integration of community members into life in the United States, which requires ensuring their immigration status is in order.
