Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality in the long term. We strive to expand learning opportunities for children in underserved communities. We especially target professional trainings which allow young people to find a stable job or start their own business.
Basic infrastructure for a stable learning environment
Most of the time, the school is the only place offering the minimum environment for the children to learn. Depending on the needs of the local community, we help to:
Build or improve classrooms, study halls, latrines
Provide desks, chairs, blackboards
Dig wells
Provide backpacks and other school supplies
Provide computers and internet access
Scholarships, mentorship, sponsorship
We provide an ongoing support to students through a variety of programs including:
Scholarships to the needy and the most promising students.
Mentorship: we pair students with mentors who can provide guidance and support on a regular basis.
Sponsorship: Our donors can sponsor a child or a group of children for a period of time to help with school needs.
We identify the beneficiaries based on our research and referrals in the field. The students are selected based on need and merit criteria regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, and age.
Clean water and basic healthcare infrastructures
Lack of clean water and basic preventive care are serious hindrances to the education of the children and economic development of the community. To be able to improve living conditions in the long term it is necessary to address these two basic needs.
Clean Water for Healthy communities
We support a variety of programs to bring clean water to the communities we serve including:
Digging bore holes and wells
Setting up pipe systems
Harvesting rain water
Setting up local water systems
Primary Healthcare Centers
We help to setup and provide ongoing support to primary care centers through a variety of programs depending on the needs of the communities.
Micro-economic projects
Micro-economic projects offer the most viable path to self-sufficiency in the long term.
Grants, technical support, mentorship
Our actions target especially women and young adults. Our programs include:
Grants: cash or other resources grants to help kickstart or sustain projects
Mentorship: we pair villagers with more experienced people to accompany them and provide guidance.
